Our Heritage Village is open every Saturday (with the exception of July 26th) from 1 to 4 p.m. until Labor Day. Most Saturdays tours of the Village are hosted by Mary Catherine Kennedy, Barnegat Township Historian. Mrs. Kennedy is a life long resident of Barnegat. She will be happy to guide you through our village and share wonderful stories about life in Barnegat.

New Meeting Location.We are very pleased to announce that we have finally secured a new location for our general membership meetings.With the assistance of Pat Keim and Pastor Glenn Swank our general membership meetings will be held at the Barnegat Bay Assembly of God Church, 378 Route 9 North, Waretown.The church is located just south of the traffic light at Route 9 and Barnegat Beach Boulevard in Waretown.The church is handicap accessible.
The Museum of New Jersey Maritime History.Meet the curator of the this new museum located in Beach Haven.Learn about the creation of the museum, the artifacts on display and the research material available.Please join us on Tuesday, March 18th, for this program and our general membership meeting at our new meeting location at the Barnegat Bay Assembly of God Church, 378 Route 9 North, Waretown.
Quilt Show Scheduled.During the February executive board meeting it was agreed to schedule this year’s quilt show for September 6th and 7th.Jamey Stofko, has agreed to chair this event, but will need assistance from many members.If you are interested in assisting with this event in any way, please let Jamey know.
Flea Market.Our annual flea market at the dock is scheduled for July 26th.As always, we will have our own table of goodies to sell so start cleaning out those closets and draws.Ask your friends and family to do the same.
Volume 10?Yes, this is Volume 10 – or the 10th year of publication – for our society’s newsletter.In looking back over some past issues saved on the computer, your editor notes that the publication started out as Barnegat Historical Society News and was formatted differently.If memory serves correctly, we had a contest of sorts to name the newsletter some time in 2001.Do you have something you would like to contribute to the newsletter?If so, please feel free to submit it to Cindy Janowiak at barnegat.historical@gmail.com.

Grant Received.At the November meeting Cindy Janowiak announced that the society had been awarded a $1,000 general operating funds grant from the Ocean County Cultural & Heritage Commission.

Quilts and Their Stories . . . hosted by the Waretown Historical Society is a program presented by Ellie Greco on August 20, 2007, at 2 p.m. at the Little Red School House, Wells Mills Road (Route 532), Waretown. This is a quilt truck show featuring Victorian era quilts and hand work. To register, call 609-693-4187.
The Society’s annual flea market will be held at the Barnegat Township Municipal Dock on East Bay Avenue. We anticipate approximately 50 vendors. The Society will have a white elephant table with lots of treasures at bargain prices.
Vendor spaces are $20 (19′ by 20′) and are available on a first come, first served basis. No reservations or pre-registration needed.
The Boy Scouts will be selling coffee, muffins, bagels in the morning and hot dogs, chips, and soda in the afternoon.
New England Whalerman.This program will be performed by David Emerson from History on the Hoof.Mr. Emerson, will portray Captain Leland Emerson, master of the brigantine Sarah Ann in the year 1843, recounts the trials and toils of the hunt for Leviathan. Hear about life on board a whaling ship and of perilous adventures at sea – including encounters with the infamous great white whale, “Mocha Dick.”This meeting will be held on July 17, 2007, at 7:30 p.m. in the

Village - Saturday afternoons from 1 to 4.One of the main focuses of our society is the preservation and maintenance of our village.However, if we are not open when scheduled no one can appreciate our hard work.Several members have hosted on a regular basis and that is greatly appreciated.No experience is necessary and it is fun. HeritageVillage has been scheduled for Saturday, May 19th, beginning at 9 a.m. While our main focus will be getting some much needed grounds work done, members will also be able to lend a hand by working on inventorying the Butcher Shop and the Barber Shop.This is a fun social for our membership with a tasty homemade lunch included (yes, we need volunteers to make lunch too).And don’t forget the
